My first book is for anyone who wants to learn about Western and Eastern approaches to fertility care and how they can integrate to benefit patients. Planting the Seeds of Pregnancy, is co-authored with Stephanie Gianarelli, LAC, an acupuncturist I’ve worked with for years. We wanted to provide a resource like no other we could find for our patients.
My second book, Not Broken: An Approachable Guide to Miscarriage and Recurrent Pregnancy Loss, is for anyone who wants to learn more about recurrent first-trimester miscarriage. I wrote this book as a guide to help you advocate for your care in the face of recurrent pregnancy loss, no matter where you live. Learn about causes of miscarriage, testing, treatment, Western and Eastern approaches to care, lifestyle changes and emotional support. The first edition was published in 2017 and became a bestseller on Amazon in the Reproductive Medicine and Technology category for multiple years. The second edition, released in July 2022, features more data and updated research to help you advocate for your care today.
Not Broken Illustrated: A Gift for Those Who Have Suffered Pregnancy Loss is a gift for someone you love who has had a pregnancy loss. We can be at a loss for what to say and what to do when a loved one has a miscarriage or stillbirth, and I wanted to provide comfort - an extension of what we wish we could say through gorgeous art and supportive words. It is part card, part illustrated story, and includes support and wellness resources for healing.
My first children’s book is for anyone challenged by transition. A new school, new town, new sport or activity can bring anxiety and worry, but we learn so much through new experiences. The Bean Family sprouts from a comfortable life below ground to new adventures above ground and learns that ‘Change can be tough but we can grow through new experiences.’ I dedicated The Bean Family Sprouts to my children, who inspire me every day.
I re-published my father’s book, Cedar Island Duck Hunting Experiences, in honor of his life and wisdom. Originally published in 1990 – this collection of stories shares hilarious and poignant stories of the hard-working people on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and the duck hunters that are fortunate enough to get to know them.
